Lin Meng also saw the familiar car parked in the snow, but she didn't want to go out. She wasn't his toy to summon and dismiss at will. She had a temper too.

"I'm asleep. I don't want to go out." She coldly refused.

He slammed his long finger on the steering wheel and looked at Lin Meng's eyes, becoming somewhat fierce.

"Isn't this already awake?!"

I'm tired, I don't want to move, and Youyou is asleep too!

"You can hold him down, he'll keep sleeping!"
"It's too late, it's snowing outside. Let's talk about anything tomorrow!"

Her coldness shattered his last shred of tenderness.
"Lin Meng, I give you fifteen minutes. If you're not down in fifteen minutes, I'm leaving!" he roared, hanging up the phone with a cold stare.

Lin Meng listened to the silence on the other end of the phone and slowly put it down. She stood there, looking at the cars below, unable to understand why the man in the car was angry?! Didn't he know she had a say? Did he really think he was the emperor?!
Pursing her lips, she narrowed her eyes, drew the curtains shut, and walked away.

Let him sleep, she continued to sleep!

She put down her phone, got into bed, closed her eyes, but she couldn't fall asleep.
Time, each second passing, all she could feel was the pounding of her own heart. Thump, thump, faster than any clock. She didn't know how many times it had beat before a sudden restlessness seized her. In the darkness, she opened her eyes and stared into the blackness.
Tonight is New Year's Eve!
I thought that cold and ruthless man would continue to maintain his seemingly vanished state. Unexpectedly, he still came. Although the man's tone was harsh, tonight is New Year's Eve!
After all, it's special!

She blinked, letting out a sigh she couldn't quite contain. The man's roar echoed in her ear, Fifteen minutes! Fifteen minutes!
She acted so cold, but goddamn it, she still remembered the time he hung up. That man was going to take her and Youyou somewhere, where?! What did he want to do?! To find them on this special day and say he wanted to take them away, did he know what that meant?! Or, was this man just insane for a moment, couldn't find anyone else, and then came back to play with her?!
I'm so frustrated! She ran her hand through her hair, feeling like screaming.

That man's final words, filled with rage and threats, truly gripped her heart!

"Damn it!" she muttered under her breath, reaching for her phone and glancing at the time. Eight minutes had already passed. Seven more minutes… seven more minutes…

Her heart pounded, and she inexplicably began to feel anxious. This feeling was somewhat like taking a test in the middle of an exam.
She stared at the screen, her eyes fixed on the time that jumped by one minute. Her eyelids twitched in sync. Six minutes left... Six minutes...
She muttered to herself, her heart becoming increasingly agitated. Finally, she couldn't bear it any longer. She got out of bed and tiptoed to the bedside, quietly pulling open the crack and peering down. In the snow, the car was still there. A light dusting of snowflakes fell gently, making one's heart feel as unsettled as the swirling snow.
What on earth is this man trying to do?!

She lowered her head anxiously, glancing at her phone. There were only five minutes left… Oh no… Time jumped… There were only four minutes left…

Her hands began to tremble, so much so that even standing still, she could hear her own pounding heartbeat.

"Damn it!" she finally exclaimed.

She just can't win against that man! She just inexplicably worries about him! When will she truly become a cold and heartless person?

Stamping her feet, she grabbed the coat hanging on one side and threw it on haphazardly. Then, she picked up the little guy's down jacket and put it directly on his small quilt. She scooped him up along with the quilt and the clothes, all in one go. Luckily, the little guy was covered with a small quilt, otherwise, she wouldn't have been able to carry him.
It's too late!

I don't have time to get dressed!

She rushed downstairs, clutching her little one tightly. The child had only just fallen asleep after midnight and was now sleeping soundly, none the wiser to their sudden burst of activity. She opened the door and scrambled out, gasping for breath, without even bothering to put on her boots; she remained in her cotton slippers. Only when she saw Rong Ling's car still parked outside did her heartbeat calm and her steps slow.
She was so angry with herself, feeling utterly defeated and pathetic. She had let this man walk all over her again, giving in to his every whim so easily. Now, seeing the car, she hesitated, her steps slowing down. She didn't know if she should approach it, because it probably felt like another ridiculous game that would only hurt her!

Rong Ling sat in the car, watching Lin Meng run out like that: wearing a coat on the outside, revealing two slender legs and a short piece of nightgown, even her feet were only wearing cotton slippers. It could be seen that she was in a hurry. The child in her arms hadn't even put on clothes, just wrapped in a blanket.
This woman must have hesitated, she must have gone through a psychological struggle, and in the last few minutes, she still rushed out hastily. But when she saw him, she hesitated again!

He -- hesitated too!

Snowflakes painted the world white and pure, falling on her, highlighting her porcelain skin. She walked closer slowly, embracing that nearly white mass, as clean as a snow sprite, so clean it made his heart skip a beat.
He suddenly felt a pang of panic!
Is this it? Just like that, taking her away and then going to see his mother?! How is he supposed to introduce her? And what will he do with her after that?! If they reach that point, then he has made a promise. No matter what happens, he needs to give her an identity. But can he? Is he ready for this?! Is she ready too?!

Can this woman be so trusting?!

She walked closer and closer, finally hesitating to a standstill just two meters from his car! He watched her through the glass, meeting her gaze. She should have been unable to see him, yet her eyes were fixed directly on him.

Those eyes, so dark, held an icy purity, like a deep black ice pool, bottomless. If one were to be caught in them by accident, they would sink deeper and deeper, unable to escape.
He jolted with a start, intimidated by the alluring power. His hand gripping the steering wheel tightened suddenly.
She took a step, just a small one, her left foot barely touching the ground, when he slammed on the gas and sped away like an arrow released from its bow.

---Rong Ling---
She widened her eyes and roared, the volume of which would surely have ripped through the heavens, yet she only opened her mouth, not a single sound escaping. The roar that threatened to tear apart, hummed and resonated, but it remained trapped within her heart.
She could no longer scream!

That car was driving very fast, and it quickly drove far away from her.
With tears transparent as the falling snow, she slowly slid them down her cheeks.

<< Rong Ling! I hate you! You're a jerk! You played me again!

>
She roared in her heart, closed her eyes, letting the hot tear freeze in the icy wilderness. She started to tremble uncontrollably, a boiling self-deprecation threatening to crush her. She hated that she couldn't be cruel to this man, hated that she so easily and repeatedly placed herself before him for him to defile.
Suddenly, a whooshing sound rang in her ears, accompanied by a gust of cold wind. She opened her eyes and saw a car speeding past. Right after it, another one came, followed by yet another!

On such a special day, with such a car and such speed, it was somewhat unusual. She instinctively felt something was off, but right now she was heartbroken beyond measure; what did it matter if it was strange or not!

Damn it!

She cursed Rong Ling in her heart, clenched her fist, straightened her back, and took a deep breath, intending to just forget that trash of a man. But as soon as she moved, she didn't walk backward, but instead hurried forward a step. She saw that the three black cars speeding at high speeds were approaching Rong Ling's car at a terrifying rate. Rong Ling's speed was already terrifying, but those people were even more terrifying. Looking at it this way, they seemed to be chasing after him. Rong Ling's car turned, and the three cars followed suit shortly after.
The aftereffects of watching too many cop movies were that she instinctively thought of the mafia and murder.
Ron Ling --
She gasped inwardly, her hands shaking even more violently. At this moment, she couldn't think too much, but helplessly started to worry about Rong Ling. She widened her eyes and watched as the three cars were clearly getting closer to Rong Ling's car. When Rong Ling's car suddenly turned and was blocked by an obstacle, her heart skipped a beat, and her legs ran uncontrollably, running outward. As she watched the three cars also turn and disappear, she truly started to panic.
He suddenly drove away, inexplicably. She had just come down after being inexplicably told to do so and was given fifteen minutes for some unknown reason. She came down, close enough to him, but he suddenly drove away inexplicably.
This……

She gasped for air in fright!

No... no, could Rong Ling be in danger?!

Thinking about this, she became tense all over. Remembering that she still held her phone, she struggled to hold the little one in her arms with one hand, then picked up the phone and made a call.

Please, please don't get into trouble!

Deep in her heart, she muttered to herself as she gazed at the pitch-black road ahead. Fear consumed her entirely!

The phone went unanswered.
Why not answer?!

Her teeth began to chatter uncontrollably!
If everything is alright, why isn't he answering the phone?! Did something happen to him?!
This poor, pathetic woman doesn't even know that Rong Ling is unable to make up his own mind, so he cowardly chose to run away and cowardly refused to answer her calls. She also doesn't know that the three cars were chasing after Rong Ling, but there were people like Dayang inside them. They came to protect Rong Ling.
She could not help but love Rong Ling, and she couldn't escape worrying about him this way and that. So, she could only wander pitifully in the cold dark night, facing snowflakes that still felt icy on her face, dragging those pitiful cotton slippers that didn't even fully cover her feet, running through the darkness.
Holding a child in her arms, she gasped for breath. Under her coat, there wasn't even a pair of warm pants, and the cold had made her legs ache, but she couldn't stop running. She could only run; besides running, she didn't know what else she could do. Because she was too worried, worried that after finally surpassing the obstacle blocking her vision, she would see something she couldn't bear.
I don't know how long she had been running, but both of her legs were starting to go numb and her body was frozen. Her lungs felt both freezing and burning, a torment of ice and fire. Yet, she made it through, crossing the obstacle that had blocked her view. All she saw was a black expanse and white swirling in the sky. She didn't see any signs of a car crash or anything particularly strange. Exhausted, she collapsed onto the ground with a thud. The weight of the little one wasn't light; it knocked the breath out of her, causing her to cough violently.
But she didn't find it that unbearable, at least he was probably still alright!

The little guy had already woken up, shaken awake. At first, he mumbled and called out "Mommy," but after Lin Meng sternly ordered him to "stay still," he obediently burrowed into Lin Meng's arms and didn't say another word. Lin Meng was running very fast, the little guy could feel it, his heart was racing too, but he dared not speak for fear of delaying Mommy's important business.
The little boy suddenly tumbled out of bed, not feeling any pain at all. With a quick slide, he immediately crawled out from under the covers and rushed to pull on Lin Meng's arm.
"Mommy, I'll support you!"

Is there any melted snow on the ground, a little damp? The little guy, pulling Lin Meng who was gasping for breath like an ox, tried very hard to pull her onto the bed and sit down.

The little guy remembered it very clearly: the ground was chilly, cold enough to make his tummy hurt, and then he would get a stomachache. He couldn't let Mommy get sick.

Lin Meng heaved heavily on that side, but she didn't delay. She immediately reached for the down jacket and put it on the little guy. Then, she forcibly pulled the little guy into her arms, pulling up a corner to try to cover the little guy as much as possible.

Children have weak immune systems and should not get sick.

The little boy obediently reached out his hand to wipe the sweat that kept rolling down from Lin Meng's forehead. The icy touch caused the little boy's brow to furrow.

"Mommy, what's wrong with you?!"
Lin Meng forced a smile. "It's nothing!"

The little one was doubtful, looking at her with worry.

"Mommy, Ah-Yi uncle said that You-You is already a little man, so You-You can help Mommy and solve problems for Mommy. Mommy, what's wrong? Tell You-You, okay?!"
The little boy reached out his tiny hand and gently cupped Lin Meng's face, warming her.

"My dear Youyou," Lin Meng reached out, one hand gently covering the little boy's now cold hand.

"Don't worry, Mommy is fine. Mommy just saw your Uncle Rong and was a bit worried, so she ran over to take a look. Mommy is just a little tired from running, that's all. Rest for a bit, and Mommy will be good as new!"

"Uncle Rong?!" The little guy tilted his head, his eyes widening instantly. "Uncle came to play with Youyou?!"

"About that..." she chuckled, her body slowly relaxing.
"Where did Uncle Rong go?!"

"Mommy, call again to ask!"

Lin Meng pulled the little kid's hand down, pulling it into her arms and clutching it tightly.

"My sweet baby, don't catch a cold, otherwise, Mommy will be heartbroken!"

The little boy’s hands immediately stopped struggling, and he grinned sheepishly.

Lin Meng just took out her phone from her pocket and called Rong Ling again, but there was still no answer. She called several times in a row, but it was the same every time. She didn't know what was going on.
By this point, she had reached her limit. She simply didn't have the ability to find that man anymore. Because she had finally realized the truth, her perspective broadened instead. She thought of Rong Ling's group of brothers, and at the top, the one she knew best was Yu Xu!

She had all her brothers' phone numbers saved in her phone. She dialed directly, and sure enough, Yu Xu answered!
"Ah Xu!" she cried out urgently, to confirm.

"Well, what's the matter?!" Yu Xu shook his head, which was a little too drunk, and forced himself to perk up. It was too late at night for Lin Meng to call him, so it must be something important.

Lin Meng immediately explained the situation.
Yu Xu was jolted awake by this news. Could it be true that what you fear comes to pass? Someone had made a move! He first calmed Lin Meng down without making a sound, assuring her not to worry. Then he hung up and immediately called Rong Ling.

"Someone's been causing you trouble?!" Yu Xu asked anxiously.

Rong Ling was slightly surprised. "No, what's wrong?!"

"Has Dayang come over yet?!"

"Hmm." His response was still short and to the point.
Yu Xu began to smile wryly, feeling a sense of relief. Letting the alcohol wash over him without restraint, his words became more unrestrained.

"Big brother, how did you do that? Your sister-in-law called you, why didn't you answer?!"

Ron Ling instinctively felt irritated. Just as he was about to scold Yu Xu for doing whatever he pleased, he heard Yu Xu humming drunkenly. "Big sister-in-law called me, I think she's about to cry, saying that three cars were chasing you. She followed for a while, then lost your trace. She's afraid something happened to you, and since you didn't answer her calls, she called me. Big brother, what's going on?! Big sister-in-law is outside, I can hear the wind howling! Little Youyou is with her too, he looks pretty worried."

Rong Ling was startled. She never expected her to think like that, let alone chase after her. The way she was, dragging slippers and holding a child in her arms, how could she possibly chase?

He suddenly felt a pang of sympathy! There was also a faint trace of guilt in his heart. He had an urge to drive back now, drag that woman back, but it was too late. He had wasted too much time tonight. Even if he went back, how could he face that woman!

What a dumb woman! Is there such a stupid woman? What is she chasing after in the middle of winter?!

Tell her to go back immediately and tell her that I'm fine, nothing is wrong.
"Hey, no, no!" Yu Xu exclaimed. "Why would you ask me to tell her? Just give her a call and let her know you're safe. That's way more effective than anything else. I don't care, just call her yourself." And with that, he hung up the phone!
