Jin Jianren didn't look back. He stopped at the door and said, "I have my own ideas," before walking out.

"Hiss—"

Only after he left did Jin Jiande draw a sharp breath, looking at his broken finger. His face twitched, his bloodshot eyes widened in shock.

But outside the door, just a dozen steps away, Jin Jianren stopped in the hallway. Ahead of him, one person was walking towards him with a lunchbox.

It is not someone else, but Yongning County Princess.

These days, Kim Jianren doesn't come home often. The last time he did have a meal at home, Kim Chang-ge didn't come out. Now, seeing his sister's thin cheeks and listless eyes, Kim Jianren sighed.

He knew why his sister was so down.

"Eternal Peace"

Jin Changge held a food box, his lifeless eyes staring at the ground as he walked forward, not responding.

"Yongning? What are you thinking about?" Kim Jianren called out again, and Jin Changge only then lifted his head.

"Huh? No. Big brother, come and see second brother," Jin Yongning raised his pale face, opening his mouth without expression.

"Well, my second brother lost a leg on this campaign. Luckily he survived. I'm here to see him."

"But it's alright, I think with some more rest, I should be able to get out of bed," Kim Jian-in said stroking his chin.

Jin Changge's eyebrows furrowed slightly as she looked at the food box and said, "The maidservants said that Second Brother hasn't been eating, so I came to bring him some food."

As soon as he finished speaking, Jin Changge walked past Jin Jianren carrying a lunchbox.

Kim Jianren nodded, putting his hands behind his back and walking forward. But after just two steps, he stopped, turned around, and called out to Kim Changge:

"Yongning, you...you don't have to be too sad."

Jin Changge stopped his steps and turned to look at him, "Hmm?"

Jin Jianren continued, "Yansuo Mountain is a famous dangerous place in Dayan. The traitor occupied the strategic location and set up an ambush in the mountains. Although Wukui and Jiandé each had a large army, they fell into the trap as soon as they entered."

"There's no way around it, we lost the advantage when we stepped into Yanluo Mountain. Wu Kui's death...."

"Speaking of which, he sighed, 'Don't be too heartbroken. After all, you haven't officially married into the barbarian tribe yet. His death won't affect your reputation.' "

"I hope you don't mind, just let it go."

"No, I can see clearly. Big Brother Jin Changge still has no expression on his face."

Jin Jianren knew his sister's personality was proud and she would never show her vulnerability.

Although she had never met Wukui, he was a renowned hero. A valiant and formidable man, according to her understanding of her sister's personality, she would surely be infatuated with someone like him.

After all, when her father had betrothed her, she hadn't objected too strongly.

Thus, it seems she has already accepted her fate of becoming the wife of this Wu Kui and the future queen of the barbarian king.

It's a pity... Heaven does not grant man's wishes. This traitor truly deserves to die.

Looking at her expressionless face, Kim Jianren saw through it at once, knowing that she was putting on a brave face.

Having thought this through, he walked toward Jin Changge and then continued:

"Yongning, this arranged marriage hasn't been finalized yet. In the future, I will find you another husband that you approve of."

Jin Changge frowned, then turned and left.

"Don't worry about me, big brother. I'm fine."

Seeing his younger sister suddenly turn and leave, Jin Jianren touched his nose and let out a light sigh.

"Oh, you silly girl," he shook his head and left too.

"Second Brother, I've come to see you,"

Jin Changge knocked on the door before stepping inside. But as soon as she entered, her brows furrowed.

There is still a faint smell in the air.

"Eternal Peace, how did you get here? I'm going to sleep. Go out. Oh, and call a maid in to cover Jin Jiande with blankets." Golden-silk covered himself tightly under the quilt, muttering in a low voice.

The smell in the blanket suffocated him, making him feel sick. He was about to call a maid in to tidy it up, but hearing voices outside his door, Jin Jiande could only bear with it for now.

He certainly doesn't want to embarrass himself in front of his sister.

Jin Changge put down the lunch box and looked at his second brother, who was huddled in the blankets, his expression complex.

"Huh? Yongning?" Seeing Jin Changge walk in and not speak, Jin Jiande poked his head out from under the quilt and called out again with a frown.

"Second Brother, how is your injury?" Jin Changge came to his senses and asked.

"It's fine, just a broken leg. It's not that bad. Although she's my sister, she's still a woman. In front of a woman, Jin Jiande didn't want to cry like a little girl."

Looking at the pale face peeking out from under the blanket, Jin Changge couldn't help but let out a long sigh.

She knew her second older brother too well. When she was little, she used to spar with him and beat him up pretty badly. He would always cry.

Although he's been less around these years, second brother, with his status, has never suffered such a serious blow in his life.

Moreover, this is with a broken leg.

This is already half-disabled, and to think that when he comes back, he always coughs, and this smell in the air.

Jin Changge has reason to believe that his second brother might have developed some hidden ailment after the battle at Yànluò Mountain.

Perhaps...

Erge is still too stubborn, alas.

She looked at Jin Jiande and said, "Second brother, if your leg is broken, then let it be broken. At least you came back."

"In the Battle of Yanshan Mountain, so many people died... they were all..."

At this, Kim Jindeok's body trembled uncontrollably.

In that moment, he was transported back to the rainy day, the neighing of warhorses amidst a flurry of arrows and curved blades taking heads one after another.

Needless to say, the lurking pursuers hidden in the mountains, seemingly everywhere, made Kim Jaendeok shiver with fear even now.

"No, no, don't mention it," he quickly said.

Jin Changge's gaze remained fixed on Jin Jiande's face. Seeing the look of fear in his eyes, she immediately clamped her lips shut and said nothing more.

But, after a few breaths, she couldn't help but speak.

"Second Brother, did Qin Ze really bury so many soldiers and horses in the mountains? How many did you see?"

Seeing that his sister also doubted his words, Jin Jiande's anger flared up again.

"How is that possible? There are people everywhere, covering every mountain and valley!"

In that situation, how could I possibly count? If it weren't for me and the Qianji Camp fighting our way out, blade in hand, we would have been dead long ago.

"It's a pity I didn't kill that traitor in the midst of the chaos. If it weren't for the many soldiers surrounding him, even if we had lost, I could have taken his head!" Jin Jiande gritted his teeth and began to fantasize.

Jin Changge raised an eyebrow, and carefully asked: "Second brother, did you have a direct confrontation with Qin Ze? What's he like now?"

How could Jin Jiande have the face to say that he was chased all over Yuelan Mountain and didn't even get to see Qin Ze?

If you were to say that out loud, you'd be utterly humiliated.

Without a moment's hesitation, he blurted out: "Hmph, what else can happen? If it weren't for the traitor having numerous soldiers and fierce generals protecting him, he would have been killed long ago!"

The rebels occupy advantageous terrain and have a large army. If we were to fight them head-on on open ground, I would have been defeated long ago!

Jin Changge lowered her eyelids and continued, "So, he wasn't even harmed at all?"

Still lost in his fantasy of conquering all, Jin Jiande said to himself:

"He broke my leg! One day, heaven will punish this traitor!"

This heartless beast, it's done all sorts of evil! It deserves a terrible death!

Seeing him scold so harshly, as if he couldn't hear himself speak, Jin Changge rubbed his temples.

"Second brother, remember to eat, I'm leaving now.

As soon as I reached the doorway, I heard Jin Jiandé shout, "Change my bedclothes!"

"Oh no, bring me a maid over,"

Jin Changge curled her lips and agreed with a sound.

After calling for her maidservant, Jin Changge returned to her room. Her furrowed brows relaxed momentarily before creasing again.

After much contemplation, she took out some sweet potato chips from her bag and started munching on them with gusto.
