Lightning flashes, illuminating the night sky. Heavy rain mixed with hail beats down, breaking branches and causing flowers and plants to wither.

Suddenly, a child's cry echoed from within the temple of the land god.

"Woooo! Is even the sky trying to make things difficult for me?"

A raspy voice echoed!

"Don't cry, your crying will attract people."

A young couple stood at the entrance of the land temple, their faces a mix of anxiety, fear, and despair.

"If it's a downpour, we can still go down the mountain. But what about hail? How can we escape that!" Zi let out a desperate voice!

Bang bang!

Hailing stones the size of a baby's fist, like iron hammers, smashed the tiles of the land temple. Several pieces of tile fell from the roof, scaring the child to scream.

The hailstones, pattering like drums, struck the roof tiles, adding to the ruin of the dilapidated land temple, left neglected for years.

Several hail stones the size of goose eggs, even smashed several holes into the roof. From the broken openings, one could see the dark clouds hanging low in the sky, as if about to bring down this small temple.

Staying inside the land temple is actually more dangerous, as the land temple could collapse at any time.

"Grandpa said that a man should stand tall and be the pillar of support for others. I can't panic, or I'm doomed to fail at everything I do. I can't be afraid; I have to stay calm." Despite being extremely terrified, the man kept cheering himself up.

Chen Xiaofan, a villager from Chenjiacun, today felt something was off. For some reason, he agreed to help Fang Xiaoxin escape from Chenjiacun.

Unexpectedly, it started to pour as soon as I left the village.

We were running away from the heavy rain, but it started hailing instead.

Why did Fang Xiaoxin run away?

The reason is that I was tricked by human traffickers into coming to Chenjiacun. Tonight, I absolutely must escape, or else I'll be trapped here. When it comes down to it, even if I wanted to run away, it would be impossible.

Now the whole village is searching for the missing bride. If they are caught, the consequences will be dire.

Because it is isolated here, it takes almost a whole day to reach the highway by climbing mountains and ridges. It's inconvenient to get in and out once.

Now that there's a flash flood and hailstorms, it's not even about escaping; it's hard to say if we can even survive under the hail.

"Boom!"

Lightning struck, the whole sky was bathed in white.

Borrowing the thunder's light, Chen Xiaofan saw a wooden mat beneath the Land God's altar. It was used for kneeling and worshipping.

The wooden pad was rectangular, fifty centimeters wide and one meter long. It looked like a cutting board, very worn and damaged.

“I don't want to die, boo hoo!” Fang Xiaoxin cried out.

"Don't be afraid, I have a way." Chen Xiaofan felt a bit of manhood at this moment. For the first time since his birth, he felt so responsible and courageous.

He rushed in and picked up the wooden pad.

"It seems there's a sound coming from the land temple," came a joyful voice.

Chen Xiaofan and Fang Xiaoxin were so scared their faces turned pale. They hadn't expected the villagers to come looking for them.

They craned their necks to look out. Between flashes of lightning, they saw many figures hurrying towards the land temple.

Fang Xiaoxin was instantly terrified, her face paling and trembling. She grabbed Chen Xiaofan's arm with both hands in a sudden, desperate grip.

Chen Xiaofan was also scared, and unconsciously glanced at Fang Xiaoxin, his eyes filled with surprise.

Wow! What a great idea!

A solitary jade face weeps silently, tears falling from her weary arms. A lone pear blossom brings spring's rain.

Chen Xiaofan recalled Bai Juyi's "Song of Everlasting Regret."

Her beauty is like that of a fish sinking in deep water, and a wild goose flying in the sky. Her tears stream down her face, pitiful and heartbreaking, just like pear blossoms in the rain. I feel pity for her.

Chen Xiaofan was very curious. Fang Xiaoxin's eyes were large and vast, like stars. Logically speaking, she should be a very intelligent person, so how could she have been deceived?

"He must be hiding inside the Temple of Land. Surround the Temple of Land first." A shrill voice came in.

Fang Xiaoxin was even more afraid, now completely lost and helpless. She clutched Chen Xiaofan with all her might, for he was her only hope at this moment.

Chen Xiaofan was in a panic, knowing that if he were caught, the consequences would be very serious.

"Come with me," Chen Xiaofan whispered.

Chen Xiaofan decided to take a gamble, braving the hail and walking the mountain path behind the Land Temple. It was the most dangerous route there.

If it rains heavily, there is a possibility of flash floods, and if you are not careful, you could fall off a cliff and be broken to pieces.

He propped himself up with a wooden plank cushion and quickly left through the back door of the land temple.

Just left, a group of villagers rushed in, flashlights constantly shining, but they couldn't find Chen Xiaofan and Fang Xiaoxin.

“There are footprints here, he must have gone to the back mountain of the Land Temple.” a villager said loudly.

"Catch up quickly."

Chen Xiaofan and Fang Xiaoxin heard it, their faces turning pale with fright.

The wooden pads in their hands were also shaking precariously due to the relentless bombardment of hail from above.

The villagers, wearing straw hats woven from bamboo and with a few pieces of cloth on top to protect themselves from hail, and their raincoats, which also offered the best protection, were much faster than Chen Xiaofan and his companions.

"Ah!"

It's really a string of misfortunes. Chen Xiaofan grabbed the wooden board pad with his left hand, only to be hit by a hailstone and start bleeding immediately.

Boom!

My head was buzzing!

The wooden board mat even absorbed Chen Xiaofan's sweat.

"The opening of justice, land inheritance, I inherit it, to benefit all…"

“Have I got schizophrenia, or am I just hallucinating?”

Chen Xiaofan's mind kept echoing an aged voice, thinking that he had developed hallucinations. Otherwise, how could he have thought that he received the inheritance of the Land God?

"Chen Xiaofan, it was you who did this!" a tall and mighty man roared angrily.

"Kill him."

"Kill this traitor!"

The villagers all shouted in unison.

Fang Xiaoxin was so frightened that she trembled uncontrollably, and almost fainted.

Chen Xiaofan at this moment received the inheritance of the Land God, his mind inexplicably flooded with a bunch of pictures and words, making his head almost burst, with a splitting headache.

As for what the villagers were saying, he could no longer hear.

"Chen Xiaofan, you bastard, I'll kill you!" The strong man swung his club and smashed it towards Chen Xiaofan.

He put all his strength into this blow. If Chen Xiaofan was hit, his head would definitely explode.

"Stop! Take him back and talk later." A middle-aged man suddenly pulled the burly man back.

The Great Han bought Fang Xiaoxin with money. Tonight, it should have been a wedding night, but the bride was taken away by Chen Xiaofan instead, which naturally made him very angry.

"Stop making a fuss, let's go back to the village first and talk. Whatever we say, Xiaofan's family deserves an explanation." The big man's father said angrily.

The Great Han, seeing Fang Xiaoxin grab Chen Xiaofan, became even angrier. He struggled against the middle-aged man's grip, wanting to hit Chen Xiaofan, but was held back tightly by several young men.

The weather was not cooperating before, but now it's fine. The storm has stopped.

Hundreds of people escorted the two back to the mountain village.
